Sekî
In Hi Arc's Anatolian Codes collection, Seki redefines the transition area between architecture and furniture.
It takes its name from the “seki” found in Anatolian houses – a surface that is both a place to sit, to observe, and to be the boundary itself.
The solid wood form carries an architectural attitude with its direct relationship with the ground.
The round cushion supports the body while also adding a sensual softness to the centre of the form.
The curved wooden arm suggests a movement in the simplicity of the craft—a gesture that accompanies the body, framing the space.
Seki understands sitting as a state, not an action.
Beyond a function, it is a cultural gesture; it reconstructs the spatial codes of the past in a contemporary way.
